Window Seat: Media Hype

There has been an uproar in the media about Erykah Badu's newly released video for "Window Seat." The video takes place in her hometown of Dallas and depicts her taking off all her clothes while walking down the street an being assassinated in the end while in the buff. This all happens in the same area as JFK's assassination. People having been calling it everything from disrespectful to JFK to calculated-controversy to sell records. It has been getting so much negative publicity on the project, that Erykah Badu says people are missing the message and that it is just a video and a depiction of art and freedom of speech.

How far is too far when it comes to criticizing a piece of art? There have been a number of videos done in the nude, so what makes this one any different. Everybody from Blink 182 to Alanis Morrisette has done videos in the buff and have not received this much controversy. It is time that we appreciate true art for what it is and quit trying to down people who try to be different.

You can watch the video below and decide for yourself.
