'Survivor' Producer wife main suspect in wife's death;

'Survivor' producer Bruce Beresford-Redman is a suspect in his wife's death a few days after he reported her missing on a resort in Cancun, Mexico. Monica Beresford-Redman's body was found on in a sewer at the resort where the family was vacationing.

A witness at the hotel saw the couple arguing Sunday, and Bruce Beresford-Redman has been detained as a suspect, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media about the case. -Associated Press

Accoring to updates in the case, they couple was having marital problems beforehand. Our condolences to their family.

The parents of the producer have been awarded temporary custody of the children and that is the issue we would like to discuss. A growing number of grandparents have been raising grandchildren.

The 2000 U.S. Census reports that 6.3% of US children under 18, 4.5 million, live in grandparent-headed households. There are no parents present in the lives of about one-third of these children. In 2005, a survey by the U.S. Census Bureau noted that the number of grandparents raising their grandchildren had risen to nearly six million kids or about 8 percent of kids in the U.S.

What are your opinions on this particular case and the statistics on grandparents raising there grandchildren? Would it provide a sense of purpose in the life of grandparents who, otherwise, wouldn't feel like they had one? Or is this just a sad trend that is growing in our country due to the growing number of unfit parents? You be the judge
