Working Hard for Nothing, Hardly Working for Something

I was reading this article here and it showed some of the surprisingly underpaid celebrities that you would think get paid a lot more. On this list is state and local politicians, local news anchors, chefs, and authors.
It is funny considering the cast of Jersey Shore gets paid $10,000 per episode to walk around drunk, fist pump, and fight. The cast of The Hills got upwards to $70,000 an episode. And let's not even start on athletes. In contrast, a starting teacher salary is around annually $40,000, average, a police officer is around $37,000, and according to article state and local politic ans who make our laws get around $10,000 a year. So let's just say Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt got paid more in a year than anybody with a real job.
Why do the ones that we rely on so much, get so little, but not having any talent can get you a nice fat paycheck. As long as we give them ratings, they get to reap the benefits. I admit, some of these reality shows are a great way to unwind after coming home from a hard day at the office or school, but if people actually knew how much these people got paid to do nothing, their would be outrage.
