7.2 Earthquake hits Baja, Mexico: Becoming earthquake ready and prepared!



An earthquake has hit Baja, California according to CNN. Aftershocks have been felt as far as Arizona. No damage has been reported yet, but there have been multiple earthquakes across the world recently including in Haiti, Turkey, Japan, and Indonesia. There are also predictions of very large earthquakes happening in major cities like New York, St. Louis and Memphis, Los Angelas, Seattle, and even London. We have to be prepared in case of an earthquake so here are a few tips to become earthquake ready. Remember, earthquakes can happen at anytime with little to no warning.

-Know all the safespots in your living space such as against inside walls.
-Move away from heavy items indoors and buildings or trees if you are outside during an earthquake
-Do not panic, especially if in a crowd, mobs can be dangerous
-Be prepared for aftershocks
-After the quake, stay away from damaged buildings, downed electric lines and leaking gas pipes
-Listen to your local radio station or news source for updated news
-Stock up fresh water and non-perishable food items
-Make sure you buy Earthquake and flood insurance for your home
